In the field of mysticism, the present work is indeed the best evidence of Mulla Sadra great status in Islamic mysticism. He deals in this work with almost all the mystical truths and questions dispersed throughout his other works, especially his philosophical compendium al-Asfar. He argues these truths are divine secrets, intuitive questions and visionary sciences which God has made permeate his heart.Iqaz al-Na'imin (Awakening the Sleepers) is a book of rare beauty and eloquence, with frequent reference, direct or indirect, to the holy Qur'an and the Hadiths of the Prophet (S) and his immaculate household, peace be upon them.This book deals with mysticism in general and with the unity of God in particular; however, this is not the God of the philosophers Whom they call the Necessary being, the Necessary by essence, the Cause of all causes, the First cause, the prime Mover, the Maker, etc. Rather, He is the God Whom Mulla sadra - following the people of intuition and unveiling - calls the First Real, the Holy Reality, the First Beloved, the Eternal Beauty, the Light of Lights, the Ultimate Aim, the Origin of Existence, the Emanating Essence, and Pure Light.
