Synopsis "Cousin Lee: The roots of Lee Harvey Oswald (in English)"

Fifty years ago this month, as the news gripped the nation and world that President Kennedy had been shot and killed, it was reported that the alleged assassin was originally from New Orleans. Over the years, researchers have shown Lee Harvey Oswald was just not from a transient family who briefly stayed in New Orleans. He had American roots. Deep ones that went back centuries. From distinguished families. The birthplace of American freedom, Philadelphia, is among the cities which holds some of the roots of Lee Harvey Oswald. Judging from his ancestors, he appeared to be all American. On his father's side, Oswald family tree dates back to colonial times. He was a distant cousin of Gen. Robert E. Lee, which explained why he his father been named Robert Edward Lee Oswald, and his own name was Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald's list of noted cousins include President Teddy Roosevelt, who is also a descendant of Joseph Oswald of Scottish origin. His mother was a mix of French and German immigrants to Louisiana, many who escaped the reign of terror in the mid 1800s. Many of Oswald's ancestors were distinguished members of their generations, leaders and military figures. Oswald's ancestors were patriots of the United States, fighting for the same country in which decades and centuries later he changed history when he assassinated its president. Oswald himself was a former U. S. Marine. Several of Oswald's ancestors were among the soldiers who defended American soil in every war since the revolution. This book, published on the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination, takes a look at the ancestry of some of the men and women who made up the DNA of this infamous cousin of many. He was just one of us., but misguided and crazy, and capable of changing the world.
