When Dawn Carpenter decides to disobey her husband's orders and take her camera and dog up into the woods to photograph wildlife, she has no idea that action will completely change her life. Instead of deer and squirrels, Dawn finds a desperately wounded man who needs her help. But in trying to help him, his enemies become hers. Shot and left for dead, she wakes up in the hospital to find that her life and reputation have been ruined. No one believes her story, including her husband. Not knowing whom to trust, she embarks on a quest to find the truth. But what of the mysterious stranger? Is he really just an innocent tourist who was in the wrong place at the wrong time? Or is he someone more sinister? Can Dawn really trust him, or is he just someone else to fear? Can she ever make anyone believe that she is guilty of nothing but innocence? Born Velda Janell Waldrop in the small community of King, Arkansas, J. W. Watkins has always felt a call to write. This Arkansas mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother feels that writing is God's purpose for her life. Living on the farm and in the house in which she grew up, she spends her days writing, reading, painting, playing music, and enjoying her Southern Baptist church and her rapidly-expanding family.
