Parte por contarnos los comienzos e historia de los escribas, para luego estudiar los distintos alfabetos, entre ellos: Romano, Gótica textura quadrata, Gótica bastarda, Gótica cursiva, etc; cada uno de ellos con sus reglas, abreviaciones y técnica con las direcciones de los trazos para su correcta ejecución, contando ademas con una guía para aprender a usar correctamente la pluma. Contiene muchas ilustraciones de ejemplos.
