Autora española de literatura juvenil, especializada en temática fantástica. Estudió Filología Hispánica en la Universidad de Valencia y en 1999 ganó el premio El Barco de Vapor con Finis Mundi, una novela ambientada en la Edad Media. Tres años después volvió a obtener el mismo galardón con La leyenda del Rey Errante. Actualmente su obra publicada comprende veintisiete novelas juveniles y algunos cuentos infantiles, con más de un millón de ejemplares vendidos sólo en España y traducciones a dieciséis idiomas, entre los que se encuentran el inglés, el francés, el alemán y el japonés. Las obras más populares entre los jóvenes lectores son Crónicas de la Torre, Dos velas para el diablo, Donde los árboles cantan, Alas de fuego, El Libro de los Portales y, especialmente, las trilogías Memorias de Idhún y Guardianes de la Ciudadela. En 2011 recibió el Premio Cervantes Chico por el conjunto de toda la obra, y en 2012 fue galardonada con el Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil por su novela Donde los árboles cantan. Acaba de publicar la novela El ciclo del Eterno Emperador.
