Die Revolution im Marz 1848 begann in Sudwestdeutschland als eine Bewegung von massenhaft vorgebrachten "Sturmpetitionen" an Monarchen und Regierungen. In ihnen formulierten vor allem stadtische burgerliche Liberale und Demokraten ihre Forderungen nach nationaler Einigung sowie Verfassungs- und Freiheitsrechten. Petitionen blieben auch im weiteren Verlauf der Revolutionszeit bedeutsam, und mit der Einberufung der Deutschen Nationalversammlung in Frankfurt wurde diese zu einer der wichtigsten Adressatinnen. Am Beispiel der von Ulm nach Frankfurt gerichteten Petitionen wird gezeigt, welche Wunsche, Forderungen und Beschwerden zum Ausdruck gebracht wurden. Sie spiegeln den Revolutionsverlauf wider und eroffnen eine neue Sicht auf die Jahre 1848/49 in Ulm.
