These sermons were compiled by Professor J. W. Crowder, of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his arrangement of them has been left undisturbed. He has been of incalculable help to me in this and in much other service, I have rendered in the preparation of the Carroll material. It was with a trembling hand and an inexpressible humility of spirit that I edited these sermons. That they are needed; that they will help every soul who reads them; that they will live to bless our world long after all, who have had any part in them have passed into rest, and that they will stimulate inquiring souls to loftier lives, I have not a doubt. May God's Spirit, of whom these pages speak, guide the reader to new altitudes of Christian life and service, is my humble prayer.
