Escritor, director de cine, dibujante y pintor. Autor del género de horror y fantasía. Estudió Inglés y Filosofía en la Universidad de Liverpool. Es uno de los más aclamados en su área. Es conocido por la serie de relatos de "Libro de sangre" y sus adaptaciones cinematográficas (Hellraiser y Razas de noche). Tiene también numerosas adaptaciones de su obra al cómic. Colaboró con Marvel Comics en la creación de un sello editorial propio llamado Razorline, el cual tuvo corta duración.
