Synopsis "Walking Among the Trees: A Supernatural Thriller (in English)"

For fans of supernatural horror novels such as William Peter Blatty's "The Exorcist" and Paul Tremblay's "A Head Full of Ghosts," this refreshing and emotional exorcism thriller will leave readers thinking about grief, regret, and the true nature of good and evil. Father Nathaniel Kerrigan's quiet life is turned upside down when an Armenian boy from another parish shows up at his church claiming his dying sister is possessed by an invisible demon. Certain the only demon is the one conjured by the boy's imagination. Kerrigan, a former combat medic, reluctantly agrees to assess the girl's condition. But when Kerrigan gets too close, the demon breaks its long silence, threatening Kerrigan with a dark secret he's been carrying for decades. And when Kerrigan tries to pass the case on to the experts, he is shocked when the bishop insists that he participate in the exorcism. Panicked, Kerrigan calls on his old friend and trusted mentor, Monsignor Carmichael, to help convince the bishop to use another priest instead. But Carmichael, who has known Kerrigan since he was in the seminary, is skeptical of Kerrigan's claim that he wants out merely because he lacks the proper training. To find out the real reason Kerrigan is so desperate to avoid confronting the demon, Carmichael drags him on a dark and painful journey through a secluded nature preserve, where together the two priests confront past sins and present horrors.
