Synopsis "A Collector's Guide to the Colt Root Sidehammer: Manufactured 1855 through 1870 (in English)"

The Colt Root Sidehammer is a small caliber revolver that appeared fairly early in the history of Colt firearms. They were the second least manufactured revolver in the Colt lineup. They were not a popular model. They certainly are not up there with the other percussion Colts, the Single Action Armies, the double actions, or the fine automatics that Colt has manufactured. It seemed that nobody wanted them which drew me to them and resulted in the 20 year search to put this particular collection together with the help of my wife and brother. The author grew up in the 40s and 50s in the small Bee Tree Community of Western North Carolina. A great place to discover my world and to move forward as I grew older. It also provided me with the opportunity to enjoy hunting and the use of firearms. My family owned a portion of the Watch Knob Mountain and that gave me the freedom to hunt and shoot. I still enjoy the firearms but do little hunting now.
