Ippolito Nievo (1831-1861), escritor romántico y activista político, redactó esta sátira, el Antiafrodisiaco, a los diecinueve años, con laIppolito Nievo (1831-1861), escritor romántico y activista político, redactó esta sátira, el Antiafrodisiaco, a los diecinueve años, con la intención de exorcizar los fantasmas incrustados en su espíritu tras una decepción amorosa. Pieza literaria de difícil clasificación, acusada de libelo antirromántico, permaneció inédita hasta 1956, al parecer por razones de discreción. El relato, basado en setenta y dos cartas de amor escritas por Ippolito Nievo a Matilde Ferrari, narra en tono irónico el éxtasis del Amor y la caída posterior al infierno del Desengaño, apostando al final por el sano amor carnal, frente a la desmedida necedad del Enamoramiento más o menos platónico.
