A collection of short tales concerning the cases of detective Oscar Garcia and his partner Jose regarding missing persons and homicides in the jurisdiction of Madrid, none of which seem to follow the normal course of police investigation (revised and new stories added October 2016). Detective Oscar Garcia is a perceptive, gifted hypochondriac. If a case comes up that's out of the ordinary, Inspector Gomez will assign it to him. Gomez doesn't think much of Oscar's lumbering partner Jose, but at least he should keep Oscar out of trouble. The stories in this collection describe Oscar's attempts to resolve the problems of ghosts, parallel universes and the existential conundrums of magical reality as well as straightforward villainy. Revised with the addition of new stories October 2016 Part I (including some stories previously appearing in "The Curious Casebook of Oscar Garcia") concerns the eponymous Madrid detective and his long suffering partner Jose. Part II has longer stories set in Spain, the historic Indies, France and Yorkshire. (cover by Thomas Softley)
