Synopsis "Biosynthesis of Silver Nanoparticles using Asparagus Nelsii root extract (in English)"
With pollution very high in the world, finding alternative to reduce waste and toxicity in essential processes is a priority. Noble metal Nanoparticles (NPs) have been one of the more researched topics because of their unique electronic, mechanical, optical, magnetic and chemical properties that are significantly different from those of bulk metals. Silver nanoparticles play a profound role in the field of biology and medicines due to their attractive physicochemical properties, conventional methods are successful in producing pure and well defined NPs, but the process involves high pressure & energy, toxic solvents and high temperature which is dangerous to the environment. Scientists have come up with alternatives for synthesizing nanoparticles by using plant material extracts to reduce metals to their ionic form. Asparagus nelsii or known by its common name Sandveld Asparagus is traditionally used to treat flu, cold and even eczema. This plant was chosen to be used as the reducing agent, but prior to this no NPs studies have ever been done on it.
