The Career Killer, Gary Wilson, committed ten murders in Nevada and Southern Utah. He decided to get a fresh start in Raleigh, North Carolina when it got too hot in Vegas. Jake Powell and his partner, Billie Keene, received accolades for bringing the killer to justice. No one cared if the body found in the wreckage from the explosion could be positively identified. Nobody except Jake himself, who didn't like the circumstances behind the capture. Not having a positive identification of the body or a good reason for Gary's supposed suicide left Jake uneasy. Soon similar murders begin to occur in Raleigh. Detective William Hitchens is assigned the unusual murders and must put two and two together.
