I recall carving my name on the back of the coach seat with a flick knife bought in Ostend. The fight with my best mate Pete Karet lives long in my memory. But how could I ever forget the motley collection of prostitutes in Amsterdam's famed red light area? As you would expect the ladies of the night left the most vivid impression on my rapidly maturing young mind and the intervening four decades have not diminished the mental images one bit.
