Cyber-Physical Spaces (CPS) en Internet of Things (IoT) zijn nauw verwante concepten. Ondanks bepaalde verschillen is de integratie van de virtuele en de fysieke wereld gemeenschappelijk voor beide. Door de persoon in het centrum van dergelijke ruimtes te plaatsen, worden ze Cyber-Physical-Social Spaces (CPSS).Dit boek presenteert een CPSS ecosysteem met de naam Virtual-Physical Spase (ViPS). ViPS maakt gebruik van een combinatie van een agent-georiënteerde aanpak, service-georiënteerde architecturen en semantische modellering. Met name semantische modellen en ontologie zijn een effectieve aanvulling om de intelligentie van de ruimte te vergroten.Het materiaal is verdeeld in twee delen, in de vorm van twee afzonderlijke boeken. Het eerste boek introduceert de referentie-architectuur ViPS en de nieuwste toepassing van deze architectuur voor intelligente landbouw. Het tweede boek presenteert de twee eerdere ViPS-toepassingen, namelijk e-learning en de digitalisering van het Bulgaarse culturele en historische erfgoed voor de ontwikkeling van de Intelligent Tourist Guide Assistant.
