Das Ziel der Forschung war es, drei Protokolle zu vergleichen: Extraktion mit SDS; Extraktion mit CTAB und 2β-Mercaptoethanol und Extraktion mit SDS und Proteinase K, um die am besten geeignete Methode zur Gewinnung von DNA mit hohem Molekulargewicht und hoher Reinheit in Schneckenepithelgewebe zu bestimmen: Arion subfuscus und Deroceras reticulatum. DNA-Konzentration und -Reinheit wurden spektrophotometrisch bestimmt (Absorption bei 260 nm und Verhältnis Abs260/Abs280 nm).
