A perusal of these documents makes it evident that the book is a scholarly and very timely effort to bring together the various aspects of the subject and its current developments and to present them in a coherent form. Es ist klar, da in beiden Fällen keine Vollständigkeit der Dar- stellung angestrebt werden konnte, die sonst den Rahmen und die Übersichtlichkeit einer Einführung sprengen würde. Die Ramanspektroskopie ist heute mehr denn je mit apparativen Problemen belastet. Jeder, der ramanspektroskopisch arbeiten möchte, mu sich mit diesen auseinandersetzen; selbst die industriellen Geräte verlangen noch viel Experimentierkunst, wenn man mit. ihnen Spektren hoher Güte erzielen möchte.
