Después de un encuentro literario veraniego que tuvo por título el mismo que esta antología de textos, se nos ocurrió —al comprobar la gran cantidad de escritores que habían escrito sobre el Curueño, el pequeño río leonés— reunirlos en un libro que diera fe de la cantidad y la variedad de literatura que a lo largo de la historia ha generado esa corriente de agua de apenas 47 kilómetros que nace en el puerto de Vegarada, en la raya entre Asturias y León, y muere en el soto de Ambasaguas, al verter en el río Porma… El Curueño literario acoge a 40 autores y cubre 400 años largos de historia.
