Este acorazado, uno de los más temibles de la flota alemana, ardió en 1939 frente al puerto de Montevideo. Había llegado hasta allí para reparar los daños de la batalla librada con buques ingleses. El gobierno uruguayo, neutral, no permitió que se quedara. El capitán hizo descender hizo descender a toda la tripulación, fondeó el barco en el río, lo incendió y pocos días después se suicidó en Buenos Aires. Esta es la historia que se cuenta en este libro escrito por un periodista uruguayo. El 17 de diciembre de este año se cumplen 75 años del hecho.
