En el verano de 1913, George Sawle, estudiante de Cambridge, vuelve a pasar unos dias con su familia y trae un invitado: Cecil Balance, aristocrata y poeta. Esta fue mi primera novela del autor, sin duda lo que me atrajo especialmente fue la descripción: un romance gay victoriano seguido a través del tiempo, eso y el propósito del autor: demostrar la flaqueza de la memoria en el tiempo. Fue una completa desilusión darme cuenta que las 600 páginas del libro son descripciones exhaustivas, demasiado poco del evento principal que desencadena todo, saltos en el tiempo sin propósito ni coherencia, clichés homosexuales, no el complejo romance victoriano de dos chicos que yo me esperaba . Es un libro que se pudo contar perfectamente en 120 páginas, no sorprende, deja de atraer la atención rápidamente... me dan ganas de no leer más del autor y cuando un libro genera eso, bueno, ya sabrán...
