Las circunstancias que han rodeado el T-MEC son muy notorias. El presidente mexicano saliente Enrique Peña Nieto, lo firmó apurado en 2018. Toda vez que ya terminaba su mandato constitucional de seis años. Los otros dos dirigentes Donald Trump y Justin Trudeau, están siendo votados ellos como dirigentes de sus países y lo están ratificando apenas, y el nuevo presidente mexicano Andrés Manuel López Obrador, lo ratificó inmediatamente.
