Ese viaje sería narrado en la obra "De España al Japón", que se interrumpe con la llegada a su destino final. La continuación de aquel volumen en el país nipón es narrada en este volumen, En el remoto Cipango, publicado en 1927 y nunca llegó a reeditarse hasta ahora. Oteyza, que visita Kobe, Osaka, Nara, Kyoto, Tokio, etc., describe con gran detalle sus excursiones y aventuras por la vida culta y mundana del País del Sol Naciente o, en palabras de Marco Polo, el Remoto Cipango.
