After visiting an oracle who predicts his future, Vagualame, the narrator of this dreamlike tale, falls ill and must recuperate in a Swiss sanatorium. While there, he begins to imagine the future that has been predicted for him, but his imagination has been altered by illness-induced delirium. Recurring to magic and fantasy, this absurd and surreal novel is full of characters that appear out of nowhere, only to disappear on the next page.
