This book states that the region was first settled around 5,000 years ago, and describes the first Evrytanians, their customs, and their first king, Evrytos, after whom the Evrytanians are named. The book also describes how the people of Evrytania fought and won existential battles to save the entire Greek people, not just their civilization, in 279 BC.
