In 1995, American singer-songwriter Joan Osborne asked, "What if God was one of us?"-and now, in 2014, Croatian daydreamer Sasha Slavic provides his own unique answer. The first installment in a forthcoming trilogy, Grasping for Control finds God living on earth in human form, though he's only recently awoken to the divine nature of his being. For years, he'd lived in a state of hypnosis, under the belief that he was nothing more than another regular person. Although he had a partial breakthrough about his true identity in 2008, it isn't until 2014 that he's come to terms with who, and what, he is-and, now that he has, he's decided that there's only one solution to his earthly woes, and it requires a huge leap...not of faith, but from the top of a skyscraper. God has decided to commit suicide, but before he does, there are some things he's got to set straight, such as humankind's role in the universe, the meaning of sex, and his own personal history and powers, including his continual manipulation of time to revisit the year 2008 and his relationships with celebrities like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt, and many others.
