Han matado a Irureta es una novela, cuenta la historia de J.C.M.R., un personaje algo peculiar que da de comer pilas alcalinas a las palomas y habla con el microondas. J.C.M.R. está en medio de una investigación, intenta averiguar quién ha atropellado a Irureta y, mientras, nos va presentando su universo delirante. Sin embargo, el texto, brillantemente escrito por Miguel Nicolás O´Shea, no cuenta esta historia por sí sola. Si nos leyéramos solamente los textos no entenderíamos nada. Es necesario leer también las ilustraciones de Jaime Pantoja, coautor de este libro tan particular que supone la fusión perfecta entre ilustración y texto como dos lenguajes complementarios, sin que uno esté supeditado al otro.
