This is the last of five volumes which is considered one of the most complete works on the history of Cuba. The collection covers Cuba's entire history, from its aboriginal beginnings and conquest until the year 2000. Volume V deals with the years 1980 to 2000, in full development of the Castro Communist dictatorship. Written by a historian who participated actively in much of Republican history and also after 1959. He became a commander in the fight against Batista and very early opposed the totalitarian regime implanted by the Castros. As the son-in-law of historian Ramiro Guerra, he had access to many of his archives and he dedicated the last years of his life to writing this history, one of the most documented that is known.
