Synopsis "HPMarket: The History of the High Point Furniture Market (in English)"

The High Point Furniture Market is a twice yearly trade show held in High Point, North Carolina. It is open to the trade only, such as furniture store buyers, interior designers, trade publication associates and the like. This book gives the complete history about how the furniture manufacturers of the region needed a cost effective way to sell their products. There were other wholesale shows around the country at the time, however, furniture is very heavy, cumbersome and did not lend itself easily to being shown by road salespeople. This book identifies most, if not all of the early business visionaries of High Point and gives a complete timeline regarding the showspace they created, the hotels they financed, and the support industries that grew up within the furniture industry in North Carolina.
