Synopsis "Humpty's Pieces (in English)"
Dwarfed by new high-rise luxury condominium projects and occupying a prime Miami beachfront lot, the ancient Ocean Terrace Hotel awaits its fate. In the early 1980s its ownership had been split into time-shares, a condotel, and individual ocean view condominiums to maximize the tax benefits for its original owner. Now after six years of trying the gain control of the entire project, Trip Weeks hires actors, a lawyer, and private detectives to help convince the last six time-share owners to part with their interests. With only five weeks until his $175,000,000 loan commitment expires and unable to induce two redneck brothers, a Catholic priest, a warring couple, and a professional gambler to part with their units by normal means, Trip is willing to resort to deception, bribery, and even blackmail to force them to sell. Meanwhile is a conference room perched on the top floor of an Atlanta skyscraper, the president of a major law firm is outraged by the ridiculously low purchase price agreed to by a fledgling associate for the condotel portion of the property held by his law partners. In response, he angrily dispatches an experienced private detective and a young, attractive, tough female lawyer to stop the project.
