Indalecio Prieto (1883-1962) fue uno de los principales dirigentes del socialismo español en toda su historia y uno de los políticos más importantes en la España de la primera mitad del siglo XX. Fue diputado provincial de Vizcaya, concejal de Bilbao, diputado a Cortes en las siete legislaturas que hubo entre 1918 y 1936 y cuatro veces ministro en 1931-1933 y en 1936-1938. Con motivo del cincuentenario de su fallecimiento, acaecido durante su exilio en México, este libro analiza su vida y su obra en el contexto del País Vasco y de España a lo largo de la Restauración, la República, la Guerra Civil y el primer franquismo. Hace hincapié en tres ideas clave de su trayectoria política: el socialismo, la democracia española y la autonomía vasca.
