Synopsis "Infant Sorrow (in English)"

Alistair Richards, son of Caribbean immigrants overcame childhood disability, abuse and abject poverty to forge successful careers in the church, academia and management. Later, he joined the Labour Party and after two years of distinguished performances as its spokesman on Foreign Affairs, became its Deputy Leader. When the party's leader is killed on the night of its election victory, Richards, under new rules, is now the leader of the party. He is called to the Palace and is asked to form a government. The right wing reaction is intense and their media vitriolic. The drama sweeps across the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, the streets and desert of Iraq and Washington. The culmination of the fight for survival is as inevitable as it is predictable. Would Richards, with the Lady Charlotte at his side, emerge victorious or would he pay the ultimate price for having the audacity to be Great Britain's first black Prime Minister
