Der Hauptzweck dieses Buches ist, einen Beitrag zur Kenntnis der so wenig bekannten und vielfach verkannten Provinz Brandenburg zu liefern und damit die Erhaltung der Denkmäler für uns und unsere Nachkommen zu fördern. Der Anblick der ehrwürdigen Denkmäler der Vergangenheit, in welchem sich das Wollen und Können unserer Vorfahren ausspricht, ist in noch höherem Grade als Wort und Schrift geeignet, in dem gegenwärtigen Geschlechte das Gefühl der Achtung für seine Ahnen zu beleben und damit der Liebe zum Vaterland neue Nahrung zu geben. Das Buch enthält eine Territorial- und Kunstgeschichte der Provinz. Folgende Themen werden bearbeitet: Vorhistorisches, Baumaterial, Kirchliche Gebäude, Dekoration und Ausstattung der Kirchen, Rathäuser, Wohnhäuser, Dekoration und Ausstattung der Wohnhäuser, Wehrbauten, Rolande und Ehrendenkmäler. Enthält ca. 140 Abbildungen.
