Perteneciente al ciclo de Santa María -ciudad que, como Yoknapatawpha o como Macondo, constituye una metáfora del universo- JUNTACADÁVERES (1964) es sin duda una las novelas más emblemáticas del uruguayo JUAN CARLOS ONETTI (1909-1994). La llegada de Larsen -uno de los personajes de más larga e interesante trayectoria en la narrativa del Premio Cervantes 1980- a la mítica ciudad con la intención de establecer y regentar un burdel, y la oposición de las fuerzas vivas a la realización de su proyecto forman la trama de este relato intenso y dramático. En un estilo denso, de un vigor y una viveza pocas veces logradas en nuestra lengua, el gran escritor uruguayo va desplegando ante los ojos del lector la lucha entre dos fuerzas ferozmente enfrentadas, a pesar de la ambigüedad que les prestan la hipocresía y las apariencias.
