El libro es un facsímil de la edición original, con maqueta de André Kertesz y fotografías de Capa, Chim y Gerda Taro, fallecida en la batalla de Brunete. Las imágenes, emocionantes y cercanas, recorren tanto la frenética actividad del frente como el día a día en las ciudades, regido por los toques de queda, la escasez y la incertidumbre.
