Antonio Lozano nació en Tánger en 1956. Licenciado en Traducción e Interpretación, reside en Agüimes (Gran Canaria), municipio del que fue concejal de Cultura. Es director del laureado Festival del Sur-Encuentro Teatral Tres Continentes y del Festival Internacional de Narración Oral «Cuenta con Agüimes». Su primera novela, Harraga (Zoela, 2002), concitó el elogio de autores tan reputados como Vázquez Montalbán, Dulce Chacón o Fernando Marías. Ganadora del I Premio Novelpol a la mejor novela negra publicada en España, obtuvo una mención especial del Jurado del Premio Memorial Silverio Cañada 2003 a la mejor primera novela negra, convocado por la Semana Negra de Gijón. Traducida al francés, ha obtenido igualmente el Prix Marseillais du Polar 2008. Su novela "El caso Sankara" (Almuzara, 2006), fue ganadora del I Premio Internacional de Novela Negra Ciudad de Carmona. Ha publicado asimismo "Preludio para una muerte" (Ediciones B, 2006) y "Donde mueren los ríos", también editada por Almuzara en 2007, y que fue finalista del I Premio Brigada 21. Con "Las cenizas de Bagdad" (Almuzara, 2009) obtuvo el premio Benito Pérez Armas, el principal galardón de las letras canarias.
