Synopsis "Los Almuerzos"

Toda «iglesia que se respete ostenta su jorobado», dice el narrador de Los almuerzos. Y así ocurre en una parroquia de Bogotá dedicada en apariencia a dar de comer a los necesitados, donde el jorobado Tancredo se encarga de supervisar rutinariamente los almuerzos que se ofrecen a diario. El jueves es el día más concurrido: acuden invariablemente ancianos, dementes y miserables. Pero, por una vez, todo se remueve en la iglesia. Tancredo no quiere resignarse con su suerte y corteja a Sabina, la libidinosa ahijada del sacristán. En ausencia del padre Almida, que tiene una reunión importante con los benefactores, aparece un nuevo reverendo, Matamoros, misacantano borracho y descreído que pondrá patas arribas el sutil reparto de papeles de cuantos pululan por las dependencias: desde el oscuro sacristán Celeste Machado hasta las tres Lilias, tres ancianas que se encargan de los servicios domésticos de la parroquia.
