Das metabolische Syndrom (Syndrom X oder Insulinresistenzsyndrom) umfasst ein Bündel von Stoffwechselanomalien, die das Risiko von Herz-Kreislauf-Erkrankungen und Diabetes mellitus erhöhen. Die Häufigkeit dieses Syndroms ist derzeit sehr hoch und nimmt aufgrund des Lebensstils der modernen Gesellschaft tendenziell zu. In einer prospektiven, deskriptiven Beobachtungsstudie wurden 59 Patienten mit metabolischem Syndrom untersucht, die die Diagnosekriterien des NCEP ATP ׀׀׀׀ erfüllten. Die verwendeten Variablen waren Alter, Geschlecht, Hautfarbe, Körperma e, persönliche pathologische Anamnese, Blutchemie und bildgebende Untersuchungen. Von den Patienten wiesen 50,8 % 3 der Komponenten des Syndroms auf.
