Synopsis "Mimoun"

A Spanish teacher arrives in Morocco with the vague intention of finishing a novel. He settles in Mimoun, a town in the Atlas mountains, and there a strange network of relationships hang over him in which the characters move, collide and disappear like balls in an American billiard hall. Fransisco, Hassan, Aixa, Rachida and Charpent are enigmatic beings for Manuel, the protagonist and narrator, on whom he projects his own discomfort. But it is Charpent, a mysterious exile, who, with his self destructive process, offers Manuel the most exact counterpoint to his own destiny, summed up by the words of Rilke: ""Oh Lord, give each person his own personal death. Mimouns Morocco is not an exotic setting, but a throbbing and hostile space where the characters search for the strength necessary to keep on living.
