Featured in this new selection of Miss Tayke Investigates short stories: (1) "CANARY WHARF TOWER MYSTERY" in which the ace sleuth, in her quickest ever investigation, not only tracks down the murderer in record time but discovers how he managed to flee the scene of the crime from an office with its door and windows securely locked on the inside. (2) "MURDER IN FLIGHT" Miss Tayke witnesses a fracas between two passengers on a delayed flight from Birmingham to London Heathrow. Order is restored but towards the end of the in-flight meal a piercing scream is heard coming from the food preparation area. Miss Tayke investigates and discovers the dead body of a young stewardess. An onboard doctor diagnoses natural causes but the intrepid woman sleuth thinks otherwise and sets out to prove murder by poisoning. (3) "FLYING SCOTSMAN MURDER MYSTERY" Minus her two trusty accolades on this occasion Miss Tayke boards the famous early morning rail service from Edinburgh Waverley to King's Cross London. The journey only takes four hours but it seems like four days to Miss Tayke as she becomes involved with a vanishing passenger, espionage, and suspected sabotage; all orchestrated by a motley gang of criminals. Miss Tayke contracts a virulent chest infection and is confined to her sick bed resulting in having to miss out on the opening performance of a new play at the Grand Theatre. Just four days into the run the playwright is callously murdered by an injection of potassium cyanide in his drink at the stalls bar during the interval. Ignoring apathy from the local CID, Miss Tayke investigates from her sick bed and snares the murderer despite being unable to visit the crime scene. (5) "MURDER AT THE SALES" where the intrepid amateur sleuth goes shopping for bargains and finds herself embroiled in the brutal murder of a store executive. (6) "CHRISTMAS AXE MURDERS" Multiple slayings by a maniacal axe murderer in a quiet village causes panic among the residents. Miss Tayke tracks down the fiend and brings him to justice.
