La cueva de Naj Tunich alberga el arte rupestre maya más extenso y sofisticado. Descubierta de manera accidental en 1979 y cerrada definitivamente al público diez años después por un acto de vandalismo, esta cavidad milenaria de la región guatemalteca del Petén entraña grandes misterios. En 2017, el artista mexicano Pablo Vagas Lugo realizó una expedición a Naj Tunich acompañado por algunos de los colaboradores de esta publicación. El resultado es este conjunto de imágenes, interpretaciones, testimonios y narraciones que examina el devenir de la cueva y la relevancia de sus hallazgos. El cinefotógrafo Rafael Ortega, el pionero en el campo de la arqueología espeleológica maya James E. Brady, la antropóloga social Sandra Rozental y los curadores de arte Michel Blancsubé, Megan O’Neil y Rosina Cazali se suman a la propuesta textual y fotográfica de Vargas Lugo para vincular arte y arqueología, rituales ancestrales y actuales, oscuridad y revelación.
