Synopsis "Nemesis (in English)"

Nemesis is a story about love, betrayal and crime in which the characters, starting with the protagonist, set out on an unbridled quest to get rich by any means possible, including murder. Johnson Anderson, a good pilot with a solid background in commercial airline industry, became reckless on the job and is fired. Unable to find another job as a pilot, because of his background, he chose the only option he knew would lead him to quick riches. But that option has its thorns and dangers. Realizing there is more to life than being a pilot, he became an instant 'wise guy' who thought he knew how he could make fast bucks. But Johnson has a problem, which he himself acknowledged - he lacked the shrewdness of a successful criminal. Hard thinking was not part of his vocabulary! But he had his companion and lover to do that for him. His low self esteemed girlfriend, would do anything he asked without questions. She would even sacrifice her wellbeing, safety net and future to be with the once and future love of her life. Things went very smoothly as planned until the unexpected happened. Johnson found that it was not worthwhile for him to keep to his deal with a local racketeer, with whom he had planned to share his loot. But that option has its danger and thorns as he would have to live life on the run. Running from one trouble soon land him in another trouble, but this time, with the only woman who has ever cared for him. With trouble brewing in every move he made, and with his girlfriend getting sadder and more frustrated with his decisions, Johnson's clock began to tick. A hired hoodlum is bent on finding him to settle a score. No one has ever betrayed his master and lived to tell the story, he told himself. He would find Johnson and make him pay for his betrayal, but Johnson would first have to return the retainer he received for the job. Finding Johnson became an obsession and a task, to which he devoted everything. For the hired hoodlum, it was a chance to enjoy the life of a hunter, which he enjoyed more than the dreary job of an enforcer for the local racketeer, Napoleon. His obsessive delight in cruelty would put him on Johnson's trail. But the thrill of the hunt was greater than the trouble, for the hoodlum, as he set out to hunt down Johnson. For the mafia, Johnson has bitten more that he could swallow. He must return the stolen money or he would pay the ultimate price. Johnson knew what was at stake. He had a decision to make. For his devoted girlfriend, there is only one choice for Johnson. It was either marriage or the penitentiary and lethal injection. And in the shadows lurk a professional killer, hired by someone Johnson had wronged along the way. But the intricacies of Johnson's twisted life on the skid, soon led the professional killer to bargain for what he thought would be a bigger payday. In the midst of all of this comes a rich Texan heiress who found Johnson irresistible. Every infatuation has its risks. The risks were more than the beautiful, rich Texan was ready to endure. A choice has to be made. And a choice she did make. Johnson's loyal girlfriend has come to a crossroad, in which things had spiraled out of control because of Johnson's naivety and ignorance of how the underworld functions. Bottomline is that Johnson can neither go back nor go forward. Perhaps there is still a better way to get rich, Johnson thought. But then again, his thinking failed him. The only woman with the ability to think for him has been scorned and brushed off for good. For the embittered Napoleon, the racketeer, he has not only lost his retainer but his henchman whom he relies on to straighten the pimps, pedlers, and his footsoldiers who have became unruly. For Johnson, it seemed the end might be in sight unless he is able to think his way out of the hole he had unwittingly dug for himself. For a local cop, it appears the time has come to earn that promotion he has been waiting for. This was his opportu
