Synopsis "Nuevos Tiempos del Trabajo: Entre la Flexibilidad Competitiva de las Empresas y las Relaciones de Género"
En los momentos históricos de grandes transformaciones, como la que experimentan las sociedades del presente, la configuración social del tiempo se convierte en el rompeolas donde todas ellas confluyen y,como consecuencia, ese tiempo se muestra como el mejor revelador de las tendencias y lógicas en juego. Es esta perspectiva la que inspira esta obra en la que se ofrecen los principales resultados de una investigación empírica sobre los profundos cambios que, desde hace unas tres décadas, afectan, por un lado, a las relaciones de empleo y, por otro, a las relaciones de género. Sin que puedan separarse en el mundo de la realidad social, unas y otras se ven tensionadas por los requerimientos empresariales de uso flexible de la fuerza de trabajo y las nuevas modalidades de convivencia doméstica. La obra se despliega en dos grandes bloques: en el primero se analizan las principales tendencias de cambio del tiempo de trabajo tanto desde un punto de vista fáctico como normativo y el modo como son experimentadas y vividas por la población española; en el segundo, se hace ver como las nuevas relaciones de empleo, profundamente marcadas por el género, se hallán articuladas y diversificadas en función del papel que juega en ellas el modo como se organizan los tiempos sociales. La información que se ha utilizado para el análisis procede casi toda ella de la realización de catorce grupos de discusión y de más de ochenta trevistas semidirigidas realizados expresamente para esta investigación.At times of major historical transformations, such as the one taking place in modern-day societies, the social configuration of time becomes the breakwater where they all meet and, as a result, that time proves to be the clearest indicator of the trends and logics involved. It is this perspective that inspires this work, which offers the main results of an empirical investigation into the far-reaching changes which over the last thirty years or so have affected, on the one hand, employment relationships and, on the other, gender relations. Although they cannot be separated in the world of social reality, both types of relations are subjected to stress by employers' flexible workforce requirements and new modes of domestic coexistence. The book is divided into two main sections: the first analyses the principal changes in working time trends both in actual terms and from a regulatory point of view, and how they are experienced by the Spanish population; the second reveals how new employment relationships, profoundly marked by gender, are arranged and diversified according to the role played by the organization of social times in such relationships. Nearly all the information used for the analysis comes from fourteen discussion groups and over eighty semi-structured interviews carried out specifically for the purpose of this investigation.
