De manera que los protagonistas son los textos, en ningún caso los autores. A lo largo de los cuatrocientos años que abarca la literatura cubana, la poesía se ha mostrado como el género más pródigo y afortunado en la isla, cuya expresión literaria comenzó por el verso. El último siglo ha sido el más poblado de grandes poetas.
