Synopsis "Proceedings of the Association of Celtic Students of Ireland and Britain: Vol. I & II (in English)"

The Association of Celtic Students of Ireland and Britain was established in 2012 to provide a forum for Celtic Studies students from across these islands and beyond to come together to share ideas and build links socially and academically. Our annual conference enables undergraduate and postgraduate students to present papers on any topic in Celtic languages and their attendant literatures, cultures, histories and politics etc. in a supportive and stimulating environment among their peers. This first volume of proceedings includes papers from our 2013 conference in Edinburgh and our 2014 conference in Aberystwyth. Most of the papers are in English but there are also contributions in Welsh and Scottish Gaelic. Contents: Preface, Christopher Lewin, pp. 1-7, 1. 'Minority language abandonment beyond the classroom: Welsh application in adolescents', Abigail Ruth Price (Bangor University), pp. 8-17, 2. 'Code-Switching by the Numbers', Alasdair MacLeod (University of Edinburgh), pp. 18-27, 3. 'Social unrest in two Gaelic-speaking communities', Erin Hill (University of Edinburgh), pp. 28-36, 4.
