Jake ventures deep into the Sierra Madre mountains of Oaxaca in search of a fabled mushroom cult and dwells there with the Mazatec Indians. Then, with his partner Bones Osgood, he embarks on a border smuggling operation that is taut with danger and unpredictable characters. His life becomes a race to stay ahead of the ruthless law and flowers into a revelation of self-awareness that puts him on a new and transforming path.
