Synopsis "Ravens of the Norse: An Adventure Story (in English)"
Ravens of the Norse is one of a series of adventure stories set on the edge of the wilderness in northern Minnesota. The story follows two brothers and their widowed father on a coming-of-age deer hunting trip in the big woods of northern Minnesota. Tristan, the youngest of the two brothers, is 12 years old and eager to show his father and older brother Glenn that he is a true outdoorsman. To do so, he is forced to battle the forces of nature in the form of an Alberta Clipper bearing down on them from the northwest. Unbeknownst to him, he is also battling supernatural forces in the form of Odin, the old Norse deity. Burdened by asthma and his youthful enthusiasm for the hunt, Tristan still has a great deal to learn to be able to survive the storm on his own, let alone the supernatural forces at work. Their aging father, an English teacher struggling to raise his boys on his own, tries his best to watch over Tristan and teach him the lessons only the wilderness can provide. Norse mythology and religion intervene as Odin examines their character from his unique perspective. He relies on his shaman-like ravens Hugin and Munin and his wolves Geri and Freki to decide whether any of the hunting party are worthy of joining him in Valhalla that perilous night.
