Synopsis "Retired: Now What? (in English)"
Retire already! Not always such an easy decision. Just ask Eddie Short, the protagonist in Retired: Now What? a humorous novel of how he faces the daunting question of what to do with the last quarter of his life. Soon after liberation, Eddie downsizes to a smaller house an hour away, battles the 24/7 syndrome with his wife (actually, she nudges him out of her personal space), grows bored, sinks into depression, recovers with happy pills during therapy, becomes a fast-food chicken mascot, takes up golf, loses friends but makes new ones, and finally finds himself. Eddie Short lends comic relief for Baby Boomers tackling serious issues in their golden years, such as elderly parents moving in with dementia. With 76 million Baby Boomers soon on their way to retirement - some already in retirement- Retired: Now What? focuses on the perils of not having a plan. As Eddie Short navigates his first year into retirement, the reader begins to understand how life, post career, can be promising or devastating.
