Synopsis "Sandokán, el rey del mar"

Primera obra del ciclo «Piratas de Malasia», publicada entre octubre de 1904 y mayo de 1905, Sandonkan, el Rey del Mar (1906) figura entre las novelas más evocadoras y sugerentes de Salgari. Sandokán es un príncipe de Borneo que ha jurado vengarse de los británicos, quienes lo desposeyeron de su trono y asesinaron a su familia. Por eso se dedica a la piratería, con el sobrenombre de Tigre de Malasia, para lo que cuenta con la fidelidad incondicional de una tripulación compuesta tanto de malayos como de dayakos de Borneo. Sandokán es quien manda a los piratas de la Malasia y tienen su refugio en Mompracem, donde elucubra sus planes para realizar sus incursiones justicieras. Lo secunda su lugarteniente Yánez, el pirata portugués, y los demás jefes piratas.
