Synopsis "Santander Como Ciudad Europea: Una Larga"

Recoge las conferencia pronunciadas, dentro del ciclo que se desarrolló en el Ateneo de Santander entre abril y mayo de 2010, con motivo de la candidatura de la ciudad a Capital Europea de la Cultura en 2016. Se pretende, por un lado, que sus habitantes se asomen a la historia de su ciudad, que la tengan en cuenta y, por otro, favorecer el arraigo en su conciencia del carácter histórico de su europeidad. Para ello se explora, divulga y analiza críticamente con el fin de ponerla en valor. Se trata de escudriñar el pasado para dar a conocer la larga historia de Santander como urbe vinculada con Europa y para saber por qué motivo, de qué forma y en qué medida ha sido europea en cada momento.
